A Quick IHIP Tip for NY Homeschoolers
New York State requires an Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) to be submitted to your school district within 4 weeks of the start of your homeschool year (or by August 15th if you began in the spring). The plan must list the subjects you’ll teach and the curriculum materials you intend to use for each.
Practical step: Before filling out the IHIP, gather exactly what you plan to use—textbooks, workbooks, online program IDs, or a reading list—and match them to the required subject areas for your child’s grade. This prevents having to circle back and add entries later, and it makes the quarterly progress reports far less tedious since you’re already tracking what you’re actually using.
The NY Homeschool IHIP & Quarterly Report Kit provides blank templates structured to align with NY’s Commissioner’s Regulations, plus a simple log format for the four quarterly reports due each year. It’s a fixed digital download, so you can print and reuse it each year without subscriptions, recurring access, or hidden updates.
